The hills behind Malibu are a pretty magical place, and the perfect setting for Matt and Caitlin’s summer wedding. The couple are old high school friends of mine (and high school sweethearts of each other's) and shooting their day was the perfect way to catch back up. While the guys went for a surf, Caitlin and her girls got ready at a local hotel and then we headed over to Saddlerock Ranch, a beautiful winery and venue. The grounds were gorgeous and the old oak and willow trees made for the perfect backdrops to shoot under.
Vows were said in an open field set against the local rolling hills. Matt’s older brother married the couple in a very heartfelt and personal ceremony. After the big kiss I stole the couple away for a little photo tour of the property. This venue is truly built to shoot weddings, with incredible architecture and fun backdrops, like giant picture frames and doors to nowhere, placed throughout. There was more to shoot than we could ever imagine, but the sun was dipping low and it was time to get the couple back to their party.
As the last rays of light lit the sky, Matt and Caitlin had their first dance in a big open field backed by old oaks. It was beautiful and the perfect start to a night of dancing under the stars.
